Jan. 3 School Resumes

Thank you! Last week was our first “eat in the Church Hall Day” and it went FANTASTIC! Thank you so much to our teachers for their enthusiasm and to our Hot Lunch volunteers for the day for their patience! We can’t wait to do it again!

Thanks also to all those who encouraged potential new families to attend our Early Childhood Education Open House on the 17th…we have already enrolled three of those families! Thanks also go to Heather Griebel for helping out with tours of the school that morning!

And….thanks to Ms. Daigle, Mrs. Fessenden, and all of the incredible parents who helped with the Drama Club production of Annie, Jr! Everyone in attendance agreed… we were blown away! Bravo!

Finally, thank you to Ms. Daigle and the Chorus for their rousing performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the Bruins alumni hockey game! We appreciate those parents, too, who drove their child over to Conway Arena to participate…the night after the Drama production! Thank you for your dedication!

UPDATED! Teacher Good News We have some awesome news to share about one of our teachers! Mrs. Litch has been named one of Parenting NH magazine’s Top Teachers and will be featured in the December issue of Parenting! This is the first time that Parenting magazine has honored select teachers from around the state and we are thrilled that Mrs. Litch was chosen for this honor. We think everyone will agree…this is a perfect award for this amazing teacher! UPDATE: Mrs. Litch is on the cover of December’s issue of Parenting NH, along with several of our wonderful students! Be sure to be on the lookout in area stores, doctor’s offices, lobbies and more!

NEW! 25 Days of a St. Chris Christmas – Can you believe Friday is December 1st? Time to start our annual celebration of all things Christmas here at school! Be sure to check our school Instagram and Facebook pages each and every day from December 1 through Christmas for glimpses of our holiday spirit! Visit to view the Facebook page (no Facebook account needed) and on Instagram we are StChrisSchoolNH.

Snack Cart Reminder – We’ve been noticing a little bit of creative accounting at our Snack Carts lately!  All snacks available from the Snack Carts both upstairs and downstairs are 50¢, but it seems that some children are helping themselves to a snack from the cart for free and/or giving themselves a “discounted rate”. We’ve even created an interesting collection of foreign coins left by our student shoppers! Over the past week, we’ve worked out ways to monitor the carts more carefully, have reminded the children that the cost is 50¢, and discussed the moral consequence of not paying full price. However, we would be MOST grateful if parents could reinforce that message at home. Thanks so much for your help!

NO After Care on December 15 – Christmas may seem a looooong ways away, but we’re looking ahead to December already! Please note in your calendar that there will be NO After Care on Friday, December 15 so that the staff and faculty can attend their annual Christmas dinner. Thanks!

TOMORROW! Registration for 2018-2019 School Year In-house registration for students currently in grades Pre-K to 1 is due TOMORROW! The online registration form must be completed and submitted for these students by tomorrow, November 30, along with a $160 registration fee to be paid online at the time of registration. Please know that students whose registrations are returned after that date will not be guaranteed a seat for next year. If you need the link to the online registration form for your child resent, please email Jackie Langenfeld at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

New students from current families -- Current families who would like to enroll a child who is not currently a student at St. Chris are also welcome to complete an admission form at this time. The admission form can be found on the school website. Please note that there is a $15 fee for new student applications.

NEW! School Field Trip to The Star We are going to the movies! On Friday, December 15, all students in grades Kdg through 6 will be bussed to Cinemagic Theater to see The Star, an animated feature movie describing the birth of Jesus through the eyes of the animals at the Nativity. Each student ticket is $20 and includes the bus, the movie ticket, and a snack pack with water, popcorn, and candy. Students must arrive at school by 9:00 AM in order to board the bus for our 10:00 AM showing. Please note that this is an off-schedule showing and will not be open to the general public. Since this is an all-school field trip, students in grades Kdg through 6 who do not wish to attend the movie must stay home on December 15 and will be marked as absent.  PreK students will remain at school and watch their own Christmas movie! Additional information, as well as a permission slip, and snack pack order form are included in this week’s paper News.

NEW! PreK J Aide -- Mrs. Clarke would like to extend a big thank you to Nancy Garceau, for helping us out as the preschool aide over the past few months!  She loves our students and truly enjoyed being with the preschool class.  We will still see Miss Nancy around the building subbing and volunteering.

We are also happy to announce that Andrea Romero will be joining Miss Jodrey as our permanent preschool aide starting on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Andrea has been subbing in our school for the past few years and has a Bachelors of Arts degree from Keene State along with NH Paraeducator II certification. She has worked in the public school system for over 15 years in various classrooms including regular education, special education, behavior programs, and resource rooms. Please welcome Miss Andrea to our St. Chris faculty!

Boxes must arrive at the school by 9:00 AM December 8.

NEXT WEEK! Lifetouch Portrait Retakes – Since our Lifetouch portraits were delayed, we postponed our retake day to next Wednesday, December 6. Any retake portraits ordered by that day will be delivered to school by December 19, in time for Christmas gift giving! Students should wear regular uniforms that day.

AmazonSmile doesn’t cost you a penny extra, but St. Chris receives money from each purchase! The shopping interface is identical to the regular Amazon (with the exception of the AmazonSmile logo!) and the selection is exactly the same also. Check the online Wednesday News for the direct link!

And SCRIP for Christmas, too! – Did you know that you can purchase gift cards to most popular retailers and restaurants quickly and easily online through the Shop with Scrip Program…AND benefit St. Chris at the same time? Visit, create an account using our school code 751C7D6L13155, order gift cards from a loooooong list of retailers and restaurants and the gift cards will be shipped directly to the school. You’ll usually receive your gift cards in under a week, and the school receives anywhere from 1.25% to 14% of your gift card purchase! Christmas is a perfect time to give the program a try, with gift card options like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks, Target, Toys R Us, and Barnes and Noble!

NEW! School Store Special Item -- Our School Store is featuring a limited edition item this month...St. Chris beanie caps! Your child will be showing his or her school pride in style this winter in these navy oh-so-cozy knit caps embroidered with "St. Christopher" on the front! Nashua Catholic Tea and Tours -- Nashua Catholic Regional Junior High School will be holding Tea and Tours on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.  We invite families to this casual opportunity to tour and speak to our teachers and staff.  Applications are now being accepted for next year's 7th and 8th grades.  Since 1973, Nashua Catholic has been faithfully serving the Greater Nashua community as a center for learning and faith-formation. A 2017 National Blue Ribbon Award Winning School, Nashua Catholic offers leveled classes, a full athletic program, National Junior Honor Society and a wide range of club activities.

NEW! Hour of Code - The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science.  More than 97,000 schools worldwide have signed up to participate this year during Computer Science Education week, Dec. 4-10.  At St. Chris, students in grades 1-6 will participate.

Winter School Delays and Cancellations – In the case of inclement weather, school cancellations or delays will be posted on the website, on our Facebook page, on radio station WZID 95.7 FM and also on TV channel 9 (WMUR). Parents will also receive text messages on their cell phones, voice messages on home phones, and emails through our Notify system.

Please note that our Notify system is not foolproof….power and internet outages like those from yesterday’s storm may interfere with delivery of the text messages, robocalls, and voice messages. We will first post the information on the school website and Facebook, as well as contacting WMUR. Please also know that we do not post school delays or closings until we receive confirmation from the appropriate administrator in the Nashua public schools, which may delay notification in some cases. Thank you for your understanding!

St. Christopher School follows the Nashua Public School System for all cancellations and delayed openings. Therefore, delayed openings are 2 hours. When there is a delayed opening, there is no school for the AM Pre-K. Before Care will take place starting at 9:00 AM and morning enrichment activities will begin 2 hours later than normally scheduled. Please note that there will be NO Band or Fiddle Squad on delayed openings. Doors are open for regular drop-off at 10:30 AM and school starts at 10:50 AM for all grades Full Day Kindergarten through 6.
