Thank you! Thank you to Sophie Marquis and the STEM Committee for their STEM Flakes Snow Day activities! For each of our Snow Days, we are posting an easy STEM activity you can do with your kids using common household materials. Sophie is also working on a bulletin board for the kids to post their results. STEM Flakes activities are posted along with the No School announcements on both the school website and Facebook HERE!

AGAIN THIS WEEK! Patriot Free Dress Day – Clearly, our Patriots Free Dress day last week brought our hometown team the luck they needed against the Titans, so we’re doing it again this Friday! This Friday, January 19, will be a Patriot’s Free Dress Day in support of the Pats as they take on the Jacquars! All students are welcome to wear their Patriots gear or red/white/blue (and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, students who support another NFL team are welcome to wear their team’s gear, too!). Please keep all regular Free Dress guidelines in mind.

Open Houses for Prospective Families – Start spreading the word! We will be holding two Open Houses for prospective families in January and we’d love to fill the halls with new friends! The first Open House will take place on Sunday, January 28 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, immediately following our Parish/School Mass and Coffee Hour. The second Open House will take place on Tuesday, January 30 from 9:30-11:00 AM. Please share with friends and family!

School/Parish Mass and Coffee Hour – Please join our school and parish family on Sunday, January 28 at the 10:00 AM mass, followed by a Coffee Hour immediately after! This is a great time to reconnect with friends after the busy holiday season! All students who attend mass in uniform will receive a Free Dress pass for Tuesday, February 6.

NEW! Spelling Bee Our 5th and 6th grade students are excited for our annual Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 23 at 1:00 PM! After preliminary competitions throughout the school year, our 5th and 6th grade finalists will gather for the school Spelling Bee to determine who represents St. Chris at the state Bee! Students in grades 3 and up will be attending the Bee and parents are also welcome to attend!

Auction News! – The 14th Annual St. Christopher School Auction… “Under the Sea: Dive into St. Chris”…will take place on March 24, 2018! We are currently looking for item donations, program advertisements, and sponsors for this amazing event. This is a great opportunity for businesses to reach over 250 potential patrons! Ask your barber, talk with your dry cleaner, reach out to your dog groomer….almost any local business is happy to participate! Businesses can get involved through:

Item Donations – Item donations are at the heart of the evening’s action! We need over 200 items to make the night a success! Businesses are welcome to send along business cards, brochures, or other information for display with any item they may donate.

Sponsorships -- Sponsorships run from $250 to $5,000 and include many perks, like Auction tickets and at-event promotions.

Advertising -- Program advertising runs from $50 to $250. Every Auction attendee receives a program for the evening. Because the program describes EVERY Live Auction item in detail, these are guaranteed to be read by everyone!

If you need an Auction information packet to pass along to a local business, you can download the Auction packet HERE or contact Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for a printed copy.  Thank you!

NEW! Catholic Schools Week – Our celebration of Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, January 28 at the Parish/School Mass and Coffee Hour and runs through the following Friday, February 2! Activities will include theme days, mass and Spanish rosary, ice cream, movies, and more! Please look for the Catholic Schools Week schedule to come home with students next Wednesday, January 24!

Special Note: Our Catholic School Week service project will be a Brown Bag collection for Corpus Christi Food Pantry. Empty bags with a suggested shopping list will be sent home with oldest and only children next week! Please be as generous as possible…the Food Pantry has moved and needs to refill their shelves!

Financial Aid Applications for 2018-2019 – Applications for Financial Aid for the 2018-2019 school year are now open. All oldest and only students were sent home with a packet of information regarding the Financial Aid process before Christmas vacation. The packet can also be accessed HERE. Please read the information carefully. All families interested in financial aid MUST follow the packet instructions or aid will not be given.

Special Note: Financial aid from the Children’s Scholarship Fund is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so parents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to maximize their award potential!

Computer Programming Class -- Computer Programming Class introduces students to computer programming through the Scratch programming environment. This class is for beginners -- no previous programming experience is required! Programming will meet Wednesday mornings at 7:30 in the Computer Lab. This eight-week session begins Wednesday, January 24, and will run through March 21. This class is open to 4th through 6th graders on a first-come basis. Space is limited. There is a $10 fee for this class. Sign-up by January 24 (or until class is filled) HERE.

2018-2019 Registration – All parents of students currently in grades 2 through 5 have been sent an email with a link to the registration form for 2018-2019. (Due to volume constraints on our system’s email system, the link was sent to whoever is listed on the student online registration as the “primary” contact. Please contact Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if another parent should receive the registration information.) The online registration form must be completed and submitted for these students by January 31, along with a $160 registration fee to be paid online at the time of registration. Please know that students whose registrations are returned after that date will not be guaranteed a seat for next year.

Special Note: Parents often ask why registration occurs so early in the school year….good question! The primary reason is to help the school create a realistic budget for the coming year, including a reasonable tuition rate. Our budget is due to the Diocese in mid winter and we must base this budget on the current number of confirmed registrations for the upcoming year. By registering early, we can accurately portray how many students will be enrolled and then set the tuition accordingly to meet our anticipated costs. So, in essence, by registering early, our parents help themselves by keeping tuition rates at a reasonable level! We appreciate all those who help us with this process!

Annual Fund – 120 donors have contributed to the Annual Fund so far this year…..thank you to all who have participated! Donations have ranged from $1 up to $2,500 and we are grateful for each and every gift!  All donations, no matter the size, are important, so we ask you to prayerfully consider supporting the Annual Fund at whatever financial level you are comfortable. We’d love to have 100% participation from our families! Support of the Annual Fund on a yearly basis is vital to providing the ongoing high academic standards of St. Chris…it is what allows us to go above and beyond and nurture our students to become lifelong learners and leaders!

Donations may be sent to the school with your child or mailed to the school . You can also make donations online on the school website HERE. Donations that are submitted by March 31will appear in our Honor Roll of Donors in the summer News and Notes newsletter. Join this fine group of St. Chris supporters…donate today!

Ash Wednesday Hot Lunch: The Hot Lunch offered for Ash Wednesday, February 14, is Apple Pancakes and Sausage. Please know that sausage will not be served that day in observance of Ash Wednesday norms. Home fries will replace the sausage.

TOMORROW! Winter Fine Arts Festival – Our student musicians and artists have been hard at work preparing the Winter Fine Arts Festival scheduled for tomorrow evening, January 18 at 6:00 PM and they can’t wait to share their talents! Our bands, Fiddle Squads, and choruses will all perform and student artwork will be displayed during the event. All are invited to attend, including those who do not yet have a student involved in one of the musical programs…this is a great way for parents and students (especially in younger grades) experience all that our Fine Arts programs have to offer!

Free National Park Passes for 4th Grade Students and Families – Did you know that 4th grade students and their families can receive free access to 2000+ federally managed lands and waters? The Every Kid in a Park program is an interagency program supported by eight federal agencies that provides free access to more than 2,000 federally-managed sites within a one-hour driving distance of their home. For more information, click HERE!

St. Christopher Parish – Wondering what’s going on at St. Christopher Parish? Check out their website and weekly bulletin online at StChrisParishNH.org! Fr. Kelley welcomes and encourages all families to attend mass at St. Chris and to get involved in the parish!

Morning Mass: Did you know that St. Christopher Parish offers the earliest daily mass in the city? Start your day at 7:15 AM with the Lord at St. Chris! This mass does not include music, so it is usually a bit shorter than a Sunday mass. Kids and families are more than welcome to attend!

IJS Comedy Night – Infant Jesus School is sponsoring a comedy night at Chunky's on Thursday, February 15th, at 7:00 PM and all are invited! The evening features comedians Paul Landwehr, Tom Hayes, and Rob Steen. Tickets are $20 and are available from Karla Black at IJ at 889-1191 or  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
