Thank you! This week’s thank you’s go to many parents who helped yesterday’s Vocation Day be a HUGE success! From the Faith Outreach Committee, through the generous parents who provided a beautiful brunch for our visitors, to those who were able to join us for all or part of the day’s activities….thank you all sooooo much! We are blessed to be able to put this program on each and every year, but this year was certainly one of the most successful in recent memory!

TOMORROW! Crazy Mrs. Clarke/Spirit Day -- By beating our school goal, we earned our Crazy Mrs. Clarke/Spirit Day, which has been scheduled for TOMORROW, Thursday, October 26! All students are invited to wear their spirit wear (or blue and white) that day instead of the usual uniforms. Spirit wear includes the Husky Pride Spirit shirts or cross country/basketball/drama/lego/etc shirts. Blue and/or white shirts are also welcome! Jeans are permitted for the day, too!

NEW! NO After Care on December 15 – Christmas may seem a looooong ways away, but we’re looking ahead to December already! Please note in your calendar that there will be NO After Care on Friday, December 15 so that the staff and faculty can attend their annual Christmas dinner. Thanks!

NEW! “Winter” Uniform Dress Code Next Wednesday, November 1st, begins our “Winter” Dress code! Please remember:

  • Boys must wear pants from November 1 until April 1. Shorts are not allowed.
  • Students may wear gym shorts under their gym sweatpants. However, they must have sweatpants on when they are not in gym class. Students may also choose to wear their sweatpants alone.
  • Both boys’ and girls’ socks must be plain navy, black or white. Girls’ tights must also be plain navy, black or white.
  • Only St. Chris uniform sweatshirts and sweaters are allowed in the classrooms. Students may wear other sweatshirts out on the playground for recess, but those must be removed once students return to the classroom.
  • Once boot season arrives, students may wear boots into the school and out to recess. However, regular shoes must be worn in the classroom. Teachers will give students time to change from their boots to shoes and vice versa. Please be sure to pack a pair of shoes if your child wears boots to school.

NEW! Registration for 2018-2017 School Year Believe it or not, it is time to begin the registration process for the NEXT school year! Because of heavy demand, we must do our in-house registration for students currently in grades Pre-K to 1 during the month of November. Students currently in grades 2-5 will register in January.

We will be doing the registration process online again this year. On October 31, families with children currently in grades Pre-K to grade 1 will receive an email with a link to the registration form. (Due to volume constraints on our system’s email system, the link will be sent to whoever is listed on the student online registration as the “primary” contact. If you would like the email to go to someone else, please contact Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .) The online registration form must be completed and submitted for these students by November 30, along with a $160 registration fee to be paid online at the time of registration. Please know that students whose registrations are returned after that date will not be guaranteed a seat for next year.

New students from current families -- Current families who would like to enroll a child who is not currently a student at St. Chris are also welcome to complete an admission form at this time. The admission form can be found on the school website HERE. Please note that there is a $15 fee for new student applications.

NEW! PreK-Grade 1 Open House for Prospective Families – On November 17, at 9:30 AM, we will hold our annual PreK to Grade 1 Open House for families with little ones who are interested in joining the St. Chris community. We are well aware that our best publicity comes from those who are already part of the St. Chris community....our current parents! If you know of a family with small children who might be interested in joining us, please give them the flyer included in this week’s paper News and let them know how much you love St. Chris! Feel free to ask post the flyer in your office or in any business around town that will allow it! (Contact Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you need more!) Thank you to all for your help in keeping St. Chris a strong school full of happy children!

Barnes and Noble Night – Plans are underway for our annual Barnes and Noble night on November 7 from 6:00-7:30 pm! This amazing evening features performances by many of our student groups, a raffle for a $100 Barnes and Noble gift card, a “signature” drink at the Café, free dress certificates for all students who attend, and more! A percentage of every purchase made that evening benefits the library. Barnes and Noble Night is a few weeks earlier than in years past, so mark your calendar now!

NEW! All Saints Day Mass – Please join us for our All Saints Day Mass on November 1 at 9:15 AM in the church. 4T will be preparing the mass. All are invited!

NEW! Parent Teacher Conferences – Just a reminder that Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 16 from 4:00-8:00 PM. You should have made an appointment on Meet the Teacher night. If not, please contact your child’s teacher ASAP to schedule an appointment. At least one parent/guardian must meet with each child’s teacher at this time in the school year!

Online Safe Environment Volunteer Training – For volunteers who still need to complete or renew their safe environment training, the last day to use the Shield the Vulnerable site is Sunday, October 29th.   We will not be able to verify any information or data from the STV site after that date.  The Diocese expects their new online training, Safe Haven:  It’s up to You, to be ready for use after the 29th.

NEW! November No School Dates – Don’t forget that there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 10 in observance of Veterans Day. In addition, our Thanksgiving vacation will run from Wednesday, November 22 through Sunday, November 26.

NEW! Hot Lunch Ordering Boonli.com will be open for December’s Hot Lunch ordering from November 1-15. Please be sure to order as soon as possible, just in case of technical difficulty! As usual, we cannot accept orders past midnight on the 15th.

NEW! Drama Club Production of Annie, Jr.Our Drama Club is hard at work preparing the wonderful musical Annie, Jr., which will be performed on Friday, November 17 at 7:00 PM at Nashua Catholic Jr. High School! Click HERE for a ticket order form.

NEW! Crazy Sock Day and Thanksgiving Prayer Service – November 21 will be a busy day around school! Students can wear their craziest socks with their uniforms on the 21st, plus we will have our Thanksgiving Prayer Service (prepared by 4D) at 11:30 AM.

UPDATED! Cheerleading/Pep SquadOur Cheerleading program is underway! It’s not too late to join…in fact, membership has been expanded to include any 2nd grade students who are interested! Those in Drama Club are also welcome to join after the upcoming Drama production. If your child is interested, please complete the interest form HERE and include a note if he/she will be joining at a later date.

NEW! Girl Scout Candy Collection -- It’s no TRICK, donate your TREATS! Create a win-win-win situation by donating your unwanted Halloween candy at the front desk on Nov 1st-3rd.  Thanks to Girl Scout troop 10203, your children will eat less candy, soldiers overseas will get a treat from back home, and money raised will be donated to Catholic Relief Services to alleviate hunger and poverty overseas.  Turn your goodies into good deeds and bring your unwanted candy to fill the buckets at the front desk!

After Care Crochet Supplies – As the winter weather approaches, Senora Bichrest, Mrs. Ternan, Mrs. Clarke, and several other teachers are looking to start teaching our After Care students how to crochet! This traditional hands-on craft is a great skill for kids, helping to increase concentration, improve hand-eye coordination, and build self-esteem! To begin, however, we need to collect some supplies. We are looking for crochet needles, metric sizes 8 to 10 (plastic, metal or wood ok), and skeins of thick yarn. Leftover yarn from other projects is just fine! Please send supplies in to the front desk. Thank you!

NEW! Family Directory – The Family Directory has been compiled from all those who gave permission for their information to be shared. The paper copy of the Directory is included in this week’s paper News. The Directory cannot be distributed electronically and will NOT be available on the school website…so don’t lose that paper copy!

NEXT WEEK! Halloween Free Dress – Tuesday, October 31 will be a booooo-tiful day here at St. Chris as our kids dress in their favorite orange, black, and white Free Dress outfits! Please keep our Free Dress rules in mind when picking out an outfit!

THIS WEEK! Kindergarten Parent Lunch We’ll see our Kindergarten parents THIS Friday, October 27 for the Kindergarten Take Your Parent to Lunch event in the Church Hall at noon! Our students and their buddies will put on a very short performance and then will share a pizza lunch with you!  The event lasts approximately one hour.

Afternoon Parking Reminder -- Time for a back parking lot reminder! Many thanks to all those who are following the rules. For those who need a refresher, please note:

  • If you are picking up in the back parking lot, we ask that you do not move the cones to enter the lot at the end of the day.  6th grade students are assigned to moving the cones and will do so before students are dismissed for the day. While it may look like the parking lot is not being used, classes are sometimes scheduled to use the parking lot after recess for special experiments/projects. Please wait in an orderly car line along the side of the school by the bus drop off and rounding the corner in front of the school when necessary.
  • Once the 6th grade students have come out to move the cones, please wait until they have safely reentered the school before pulling into the parking lot.
  • Cars should only pull into the lot using the entrance, which is the opening closest to the school and marked with an IN arrow.
  • Cars should back into the spaces along the outside of the parking lot before pulling into the spaces in middle of the lot. Please be sure to back into the spaces to avoid hitting children when leaving after dismissal.
  • All parents must park their car in a space, exit their car, and pick up their child at the top of the stairs. Do not pull up to the area by the top of the stairs and assume your child can just "jump in" to the car or ask your child to run across the parking lot to your car. This is dangerous for both your child and other children.
  • Please explain these rules to any other adult you may send to pick up your child. Most of the time, those who are putting the children in danger are those who have never picked up before and are unsure of our procedures.

NEW!  Mark Your Christmas Calendar – We are quickly coming up on the busy holiday months, so we thought everyone might appreciate a heads-up on our upcoming Christmas events:

Christmas Shopping for Kids – This event has been expanded to a 2 ½ day event! It will take place on November 29 through December 1 and it is one of the kids’ favorite events of the year! Each class will visit the “store” in the Church Hall and shop for gifts for family and friends! Each item is $6 or under and will be wrapped before the kids leave the event. Many, many volunteer elves will be needed! More information will be distributed closer to the end of November.

HO-HO-HO! Christmas Shopping Pricing Night -- Calling all elves! On Thursday, November 15 at 6:30 PM, we need helpers to sort and price our Christmas Shopping goodies! We have boxes and boxes and boxes of great items for the shopping event, but we need to organize ourselves so that set-up the night before the event is speedy and efficient! Please send a quick email to Marta at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are able to help out.!

Christmas Tree Lighting – Join us for our fourth annual Christmas Tree Lighting on December 8 at 6:00 PM! This year’s festivities will once again include “pre-lighting” fun and festivity in the Church Hall! Christmas Early Release – December 21 at 12:30 PM, with no After Care.

NEW! Lifetouch Portrait Retakes – If your child was absent on the original portrait date, or you just don’t like the portrait taken of your student, Lifetouch will be here for retakes on Wednesday, November 15. Students should wear regular uniforms.

NEW! AmazonSmile for ChristmasWho is thinking ahead to Christmas shopping already? If you are like most parents, at least one of the gifts you purchase this holiday season will arrive in an Amazon box….so don’t forget to use the school’s AmazonSmile program to donate .5% of your purchase price back to the school! AmazonSmile doesn’t cost you a penny extra, but St. Chris receives money from each purchase! The shopping interface is identical to the regular Amazon (with the exception of the AmazonSmile logo!) and the selection is exactly the same also. To start supporting St. Chris through AmazonSmile, click HERE.

NEW! And SCRIP for Christmas, too! – Did you know that you can purchase gift cards to most popular retailers and restaurants quickly and easily online through the Shop with Scrip Program…AND benefit St. Chris at the same time? Click HERE, create an account using our school code 751C7D6L13155, order gift cards from a loooooong list of retailers and restaurants (click HERE to see the list!) and the gift cards will be shipped directly to the school.
