Ball in the House Concert --  If you've wandered into the school while the doors are open for the kids, you may have heard some pretty hip and happen' music coming from our lobby! We're playing tunes by Ball in the House, our featured group at the October 17 concert, every morning from 8:30 - 8:50 a.m. Want to hear some yourself?  Take a look at the video of the band here: http://www.ballinthehouse.com/promo/BitH-%206min%20VPK%20Rev1%206-25-8.mov

A ticket request form for the concert is included in this week's paper Wednesday News!

Volunteer Needed --- Nurse Gloria Sheehan would love some help organizing the used uniform closet in the downstairs girls' bathroom! If you could spare an hour or two to help out, please send her an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thanks!

Freedom from Fundraising -- As mentioned at the Parent Information Night a couple of weeks ago, the School Board recently agreed to discontinue our formal Freedom from Fundraising program. (For those who are new to the school, Freedom from Fundraising was the opportunity for parents to "buy-out" of all incidental fundraisers like the wrapping paper sale for a donation of $350.) The thought was that many of our fundraisers are now social events -- opportunities for friends and families to get together as a community and raise money while having fun. However, since then, several parents have told us that they appreciated the Freedom from Fundraising program for the tax benefits received from the flat donation. In this economy, we certainly understand the need to keep those taxes at the minimum! So, to that end, we'd like to let parents know that they are most definitely welcome to continue to make a "Freedom from Fundraising" donation -- and we will be pleased to send you appropriate documentation on your donation for the IRS.

Mass Change -- With Fr. Kelley on retreat in France and no other priests available, we need to reschedule our mass for this Friday until next Friday, Oct. 9 at 9:15 a.m. 6E will still be responsible for the mass and we will hold our Columbus Day service immediately following the mass. Please join us for both!

Eucharistic Adoration -- Grades 5 and 6 will be participating in the St. Christopher Parish Eucharistic Adoration on Friday afternoon, Oct. 2. All parents and families are welcome to come enjoy the sweet peace that comes from spending time with the Lord! Adoration will occur from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m., with the school children attending from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Do you drive to Manchester for school? A school family is looking for someone to carpool with from Nashua (near St. Chris) or Merrimack to drive their daughter to high school in Manchester, either on occasional days or on a regular basis. They are happy to pay all related expenses, plus a small stipend. Please call Cecilia Nelson at 521-8091 to discuss this possibility.

Senior Chess Club Schedule Change -- Because of a schedule conflict, the Senior Chess Club will not be meeting this Friday, Oct. 2. However, it will resume next Friday, Oct. 9. Please see the Chess Club letter and registration in today's paper Wednesday News.

Genevieve's Christmas Catalog Fundraiser -- Look for our annual Genevieve's paper sale materials to come home next Wednesday, Oct. 7. It may be hard to believe, but Christmas is only 85 days away!

Thank you -- Many thanks to all those who helped to shop for, set up and tear down the Potluck Supper last Friday evening! And special thanks go to Keith Demanche for his outstanding DJ skills...as usual!

Healthy St. Chris Committee -- A reminder to all those who signed up for the Healthy St. Chris Committee -- the first meeting will be Monday, Oct. 5th in the school.

Faith Outreach - Have you noticed the new decorations on the downstairs bulletin board?  You can see our student’s faith in action in the photos of craft projects for the homebound and Vocation Day events.  The Faith Outreach committee is already planning for this year's Vocation Day in the spring.  Coming next month is the adopted religious social where we welcome those individuals who will be "adopted" by our students' homerooms.  Each classroom at St. Christopher School has the honor of "adopting" an individual who is an active religious, including priests, deacons, and nuns. On a monthly basis, the adopted religious visit their classroom and present a lesson, attend a mass, or just hang out. This allows our students to develop an appreciation for those dedicated to religious life.  All are welcome to come to the social on Oct 13th, from 8:30 -9:30am in the Church hall.  The Faith Outreach committee meets the 2nd Friday every month.  The next meeting will be Fri, Oct. 9th at 8:45am.

New Month = New Box Tops Envelope.  We are off to a great start!  In this, and every month's Wednesday envelope look for a new Box Tops envelope to help make collecting those coupons easy.  Some folks have mentioned that they don't care for General Mills cereals.  That's OK, just look for those valuable coupons on non-food items, such as Kleenex, Huggies, Ziploc, Hefty and Avery products.  Every little bit helps.  Keep sending in what you can.
