PARENTS GROUP -- Our very active Parents Group will be meeting this evening, Sept. 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Hall. All parents are invited! This group does a remarkable job of bringing enrichment and community programming to the school!

ROSTER PERMISSION -- Last chance! Anyone who does not return a Roster Permission Form by Friday, Sept. 18 will NOT be included on this year's Family Roster. This is the go-to document for party and play date planning, so you'll want to be included!

FALL FUNDRAISER-- Time is going quickly....we're halfway through September already...and just 15 days shy of the first day of our  Calendar Raffle drawings! Starting October 1, we'll be giving out some tremendous prizes EVERY DAY! This is a huge fundraiser for our school, so please support it and sell those calendars!

We're shooting for 10 calendars per family sold...which means our goal is 2,200 calendars! While we're on our way with 290 calendars sold, we'll need many more to make our goal!

Did you hear? Every day from now until October 1, we are drawing an additional winning here at St. Chris and the SELLER wins a free ticket to the Ball in the House concert! Winners for the past two days have both from 2W...time for their luck to change, so get your raffle entries in now!

Speaking of the Ball in the House concert, don't forget to order your tickets! This is a limited seating event, and we don't want anyone to miss out on the fun! This evening will be a memorable one, with lots of singing, dancing, fun and laughter (not to mention that $2,500 raffle!). Your kids will remember it forever! A ticket request form can be found at the NashuaDiocesanSchools.org website.

THANK YOU -- Many thanks to all our families who participated in the Back to School/Back to Church mass and activities fair this past weekend. The turnout was outstanding -- we went through 16 dozen donuts! Special thanks to our Chorus, who joined the parish Adult Choir for the mass. All students  who attended in uniform should have recieved a dress down day coupon for Sept. 25. If your child did not, please let Marta know.

VOLUNTEERS – We are very grateful to the many volunteers who give hours of their time to the school.  All volunteers who have ongoing contact with students at any time will be required to fill out a Diocese of Manchester Volunteer Application, undergo a State Criminal Records Check, a National Sex Offender Registry check, complete the Acknowledgement Form of the Diocese of Manchester Serving Christ, Serving Others Code of Ministerial Conduct (the “Code”) and the Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal Policy for the Protecting of Children and Young People (the “Policy”) and attend a Protecting God’s Children workshop, and at least every three (3) years, participate in refresher training on sexual abuse awareness and reporting.  This includes those volunteering for extracurricular activities (i.e. Chess, Great Books, etc.).  All requirements must be completed and passed in to the office no later than October 9, 2009.  We will be holding a Protecting God’s Children Workshop at St. Christopher School on Tuesday, September 22nd, 7 to 9 PM. We urge all volunteers who have not already attended the workshop to please make an effort to attend on the 22nd.

Please make sure your check payment for hot lunch is received at the school by 9/20 in order for your account to be properly credited.  Checks should be returned in the purple envelope.  Please return the purple envelope even if you are not ordering hot lunch so that the envelopes can be reused for the following month.  Thanks!!!!!

Hot Lunch Volunteers! - Volunteers are DESPERATELY needed! Particular need is for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (once a month), but offers for other days will not be refused! If you would like to volunteer, please complete the Hot Lunch Volunteer Form and return it by tomorrow so that the schedule can be created.

All volunteers are required to meet the requirements set forth by the Diocese of Manchester including attending a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.  If you have not yet attended one of these workshops the next session is being held on Tues., Sept. 22, 7pm – 9pm in the church hall.  Contact the school office to register.

FAMILY POTLUCK, SEPT. 25 -- Have you found your favorite recipe yet? There's only 10 days left until our first annual Fall Family Poluck Supper in the back parking lot! Great news -- Keith Demanche has agreed to DJ for us! He's the man behind the great BBQ music, so you know he'll be spinning some great tunes for the Potluck! The School Board will be providing the drinks, utensils, plates and napkins -- you just need to bring your family, your favorite potluck dish (with serving utensil), and your own chairs. See you there!

FAITH OUTREACH - Have you noticed the new decorations on the downstairs bulletin board?  You can see our student’s faith in action in the photos of craft projects for the homebound and Vocation Day events.  The Faith Outreach committee is already planning for this year's Vocation Day in the spring.  Coming next month is the adopted religious social where we welcome those individuals who will be "adopted" by our students' homerooms.  Each classroom at St. Christopher School has the honor of "adopting" an individual who is an active religious, including priests, deacons, and nuns. On a monthly basis, the adopted religious visit their classroom and present a lesson, attend a mass, or just hang out. This allows our students to develop an appreciation for those dedicated to religious life.  All are welcome to come to the social on Oct 13th, from 8:30 -9:30am in the Church hall.  The Faith Outreach committee meets the 2nd Friday every month.  The next meeting will be Fri, Oct. 9th at 8:45am.

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE INFORMATIONAL MEETING. On Monday, Sept. 21 at 6:30pm in Miss Cate's room at the school, there will be an informational meeting about FIRST Lego League. At this meeting, the coaches will describe the nature of the activity and associated competition and we will try to schedule the regular meeting time for the next 2 months, which is the approximate duration of this particular activity (the regional tournament is at Bishop Guertin on Saturday, November 14). We will meet one to two times per week. Meetings will involve team-building exercises in preparation for a team-building "test" at the tournament. Meetings will also involve some lego construction (setting up our practice "field" and designing attachments for the robot). Beyond team-building and lego construction is are the "main events" for this activity: programming a robot (instruction will be provided using a drag-and-drop software program called MINDSTORMS and programs are downloaded onto the two robots available to the school) and creating and performing a 5-minute skit. The theme this year is SMART MOVE and students will be asked to identify a problem in our community with transportation of people or things, create an innovative solution, and share that solution with the community. Please join us and see what it's all about!

AFTER SCHOOL TUTOR FOR ST. CHRISTOPHER STUDENTS – Does your child need extra help in his/her studies?  Bev Landry is available for this service.  Days available:  M-F Time 3:15 to 5:15 PM.  Evenings by appointment.  All subjects.  All levels.  Reasonable rates.  Telephone (603) 321-8617.

CORPUS CHRISTI FOOD PANTRY -- Thanks to everyone who sent in items for the Corpus Christi Food Pantry. This week, they are asking for canned meats of all kinds, like Spam, vienna sausages, hams, etc.

SCRIP BUSINESS OF THE WEEK --This week's Scrip featured business is Shutterfly. This online retailer is such great fun -- in addition to storing your precious digital photos, you can create and share a huge number of photo gifts, including photo books, cards, stationery, posters, calendars, mouse pads, mugs, Christmas ornaments, puzzles, custom websites, and more! And now, through October 2, Shutterfly has increased its contribution to the school to 14%! Cards are available in $25 values. If you need to order Shutterfly or other Scrip cards, please use the Scrip form available in the Documents and Forms portion of the website and return it to the school office with payment. Thanks!
