Potential Bus Service for North and West of Nashua -- Do you live in any of the communities North and/or West of the city of Nashua (Milford, Merrimack, Bedford, etc.)? St. Christopher School and Nashua Catholic are preparing to begin bus service to these communities, beginning Sept. 2010! To help us prepare, we're asking parents from those communities to complete an online survey by November 13, which can be found here: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/195186/st-chris-nashua-catholic-bus-survey-2

The survey should take less than two minutes to complete. We appreciate your feedback!

Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast – Don’t forget our Restaurant “Morning” at Applebee’s this Saturday from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m!. Tickets are $5 each and must be purchased in advance – order forms are available in the Documents and Forms section of the website.  Special treat this time – the Parent Group is doing a Hawaiian theme! Hula, anyone?

Poinsettia Orders – Be sure to order your florist-quality, absolutely beautiful Poinsettias for the holidays! These gorgeous plants are being sold by the Parents Group as a fundraiser to help them bring enrichment programs to the students of St. Chris. Poinsettias will be available for pick-up in the Church Hall on December 10, the day of the Christmas programs. Orders should be in to the office by Tuesday, November 10. Order forms are available in the Documents and Forms section of the website.

Citrus Sale – Last chance for the citrus sale – orders due by Tuesday, November 10! Purchase a box of oranges and/or grapefruit (full of Vitamin C!) today for holiday delivery! Orders can be placed using the forms sent home last week or online at http://www.fruitorder.com/orderFundraising_pre3.asp?OrgId=127366.

No School – Remember, no school on Wednesday, November 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day!

Christmas is Coming… And lots of plans are underway for an eventful Advent here at St. Chris! But we need your help:

Christmas Shopping for Kids: The elves are busy shopping and crafting in preparation for our shopping extravaganza on December 3 & 4. To help them prepare, they are requesting the following:

  • Prizes for the ever-popular Raffle Table (please attach a completed Raffle Items Request form, found in the Documents and Forms section of the website)
  • Gift bags, gift bags, and more gift bags! We will no longer be using flat or rolled paper to wrap gifts – instead we will be using the much quicker gift bags and tissue. Tissue paper and self-stick gift tags would also be appreciated.

Angel Wings: We are in need of 18 pairs of angel wings for an upcoming Christmas program! If you have a pair of angel wings that you would like to donate, it would be most appreciated. Please send them into Marta Nissen. Thanks!

Special Lunch Help Needed: On Friday, November 13 and Friday, November 20, we will be holding special “Take your Parent to Lunch” pizza parties for our kindergarten students and their parents. Volunteers are needed to help serve the lunch, from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Church Hall. This is in addition to our regular lunch service. If anyone who can help on either or both days would send an email to Marta Nissen at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , it would be most appreciated!

Parish and School Grounds Clean-up Day – In order to get the property ready for winter, St. Christopher Parish and School are holding a Clean-up Day on November 14 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Volunteers are needed to help rake, trim hedge, blow leaves and other general fall clean-up activities. If you have a rake, please bring it.

Hot Lunch Orders – If you have not placed your December Hot Lunch order online yet, please be sure to do so by November 15. Payment for the month is due by November 20. Thank you!

Clown Class – There are a couple of open spots in the Clown Class with Clufee the Clown (aka PreK/Art teacher Bev Landry). Classes take place on Monday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Room. Clown students will learn the basics of clowning, including creating a character, clown ethics, magic tricks, costuming, makeup and more. This is great for both the outgoing student and for the child who needs a little boost in confidence! Fee for the class is $80. Questions can be directed to Mrs. Landry at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Registration forms are available on the website in the Documents and Forms section.

Elderly Outreach -- The St. Christopher School community will be collecting items for the New Hampshire Division of the Elderly and Adult Services in Nashua.  The people the Division serve are local folks that are in need of some of the most basic necessities.  This outreach is one that we have sponsored for the past four years and we hope that you will be able to assist us.  The list of the needed items is listed by grade below.  Collection dates are November 9th through November 18th – boxes will be placed in each classroom. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

SCRIP News – The Scrip program is delighted to announce the addition of another popular restaurant to the program – Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant! Gift cards for Bertucci’s are available in $25 denominations and the school receives 10% from each card. Gift cards may be redeemed at any participating Bertucci’s. Looking for a great gift idea? This may be just the answer – who wouldn’t LOVE an Italian dinner out?! Order Bertucci’s cards – and many other great Scrip retailers – through the SCRIP order form in the Documents and Forms section of the website.

Nearly Half-Way There: What a great start!  Adding the Box Tops funds from last spring (after the mailing deadline for 08-09 school year) to what we have collected so far this academic year, we are almost half-way to our goal.  Total to date is $598.30 and our goal is $1200.  Keep up the good work.

Ski Club -- Thank you for your interest in Ski Club. It will be here before we know it! Following is a list of those children signed up under the ski club program who are in grades 3rd-6th. If your child’s name is not listed please let me know as soon as you can. Also, there is an x listed next to your child’s name if you notified me they would be riding the bus. If your child’s name does not have an x and you would like them to ride the bus please let me know. I will then be able to give everyone a definitive cost for thebus.

Thank you,

Tammy Fahey

Spiritual Reading: Looking for something to read? Want something more spiritually uplifting than the latest Dan Brown book? Check out the new section on our website! Under the About Us/Our Faith in Action tabs, you’ll find “Spiritual Reading”, with reviews by our friends and faculty of their favorite spiritual books. (It can also be accessed directly at http://stchrisschoolnh.org/reading)  This week, we highlight a recommendation from Karen Narkis. Do you have a favorite spiritual book you’d like to see included on this list? Send it, along with a brief review, to Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Buddy Program News: Through our Buddy Program, each younger class is paired with an older class – providing our littlest students with a “big buddy” to mentor them throughout the year. Buddies get together to make crafts, read stories, even play on the playground! This year, the Fine Arts Program will also be working with the current Buddy program. Students in the 3rd-6th grade will develop and present a musical piece or story for their buddy classmates. There are so many wonderful stories about how meaningful and fun these friendships are – it will be exciting to expand this successful program and give the upper grades the opportunity to see what they can do!

Ronald McDonald Friendship ProgramRonald McDonald was here today to put on a Friendship program for all of our PreK through 5th grade students. Be sure to ask your children how to be a HERO!

School Store – As you may have noticed, our School Store has yet to open for the school year. Unfortunately, this is because we have no one to run the program! Last year’s leader, Tammy Crisp, has moved on to Nashua Catholic with her son and our pleas for a new leader last Spring went unanswered. The program only takes an hour or two a week and involves ordering items and scheduling 5th grade students to work the store. Tammy is willing to help a new leader get started. Interested? Please contact Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thanks!

POPCORN! -- Support your School buy fresh, hot Popcorn every Friday $.35 per bag. Did you know half the proceeds from the Hot Popcorn program go to the Physical Education Program? Did you know the other half of the proceeds go directly to St. Christopher’s Fundraising efforts? What could be better?! Enjoy freshly popped Popcorn every Friday! Just 35 cents per fresh popped bag.

Hot Lunch Volunteers – Thank you for volunteering for the hot lunch program.  We appreciate your time and look forward to another successful year.  Volunteers are asked to arrive by 11:15 AM.  There is preparation that needs to be completed before serving begins.  Please bring a cap to wear (required by NH Dept. of Health).  We have aprons and gloves.  Also, it is essential that you find a substitute if you are unable to make your scheduled day.  Again, thank you very much for all your help and cooperation!
