2011-2012 In-House Registration for Pre-K, K, 1 and 2 – All students in grades Pre-K through grade 2 received an envelope today with a registration form for the 2011-2012 school year.  We are asking that all registration forms along with the $100 per child registration fee be returned to school by Wednesday, November 24, 2010.  Our first Open House for Pre-K thru Grade 2 students will be held on December 3, 2010, and we will begin accepting applications for open seats in those programs.

Free Dress Days – This Friday, Oct. 29, is a Free Dress Day in celebration of Halloween!  Students should include orange and/or black in their outfits to keep with the theme.

No School Days – Don’t forget that Monday, November 1, is a no school day. Our teachers will be traveling to Concord to attend a Diocesan teachers’ workshop. Thursday, November 11, will also be a no school day, in observation of Veterans’ Day.

Kindergarten Take Your Parent to Lunch – Just a reminder to Kindergarten parents that you are invited to join your student for lunch in the Church Hall this Friday, October 29 at noon. The Kdg. students will be putting on a short presentation prior to lunch.

Volunteers Needed – Speaking of Take Your Parent to Lunch…we are still in need of a couple additional volunteers to help serve the pizza lunch to the Kdg students and their parents. The set-up is similar to the usual Hot Lunch pizza setup. We need help from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you can be here, please email Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thanks!

Picture Retakes – Picture retakes are Wednesday, November 3rd.  If your student was absent, please ask at the office for a new picture order form.  If you were not satisfied with your child’s picture, please have them return the original packet to the photographer and another photo will be taken.

Game Night – You and your family are invited to our first-ever Game Night on November 4 at 7:00 p.m., featuring games from Gamewright Games! This is a great opportunity for a FREE fun family night out and the chance to learn some new games, including Scrambled States of America, Rat-a-Tat Cat and Slamwich. All games will also be available for sale that evening (Christmas present anyone? Hint, hint!) and 50% of the proceeds will go toward Parent Group enrichment programs. For more information, please see the flier in today’s Wednesday News paper packet.

Fall Pancake Breakfast Spectacular – It’s time to start our always popular Restaurant events…and we’re beginning with one of our favorites…an Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast! Bring your family and friends to Applebee’s on Amherst St. on November 6 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and have an all-you-can-eat treat of delicious pancakes! Tickets are $5 for both adults and children – a great deal for a pancake breakfast! Tickets are on sale now and can be ordered with the Order Form located in the paper Wednesday News this week. The Pancake Breakfast is being sponsored and staffed by our Parent Group!

Christmas Shopping – Are you a crafter extraordinaire? In addition to the great items our shopping elves pick up around the North Pole, we’d love to include a few handmade items for the kids to select as gifts. Currently, we have two knitters working on a collection of beautiful scarves that are sure to be big hits and a grandmom who is making us some beautiful quilted coasters, but we’d love more handmade gifts! We usually need to obtain items in quantities of at least 12, although more is always preferable (we have 314 shoppers, you know!). Items can be sent in to school to Marta’s attention. Thank you!

The call is still on for gift bags (any size) and gift tags, too! Now that the Christmas goodies are starting to appear in the stores (the week before Halloween, go figure!), there will be more gift bags and tags available for purchase. Please send any in to Marta’s attention.

Finally, this week’s paper Wednesday News contains a request form for items for our popular Kids’ Raffle at the Christmas Shopping event! The children really look forward to the raffle and it’s very exciting when the winners are drawn at the end of the event! Popular items include toys, electronic games/systems, large stuffed animals, and games. If you can help us out by donating an item, please complete the form and attach it to your donation.

Hot Lunch News -- Hot lunch checks for November were due Oct. 20th. Please send your payment to school in an envelope marked HOT LUNCH as soon as possible if you have not yet sent it. The online system will not allow you to order for the following month if you have not paid.

Forgotten Lunches. The hot lunch committee has recently added Sept/Oct Forgotten Lunches to Orderlunches.com. This means that if your child received hot lunch on a day that you did not order or pay for it, the charge has been added to your account. The amount owed will be added to your next hot lunch order. Please make sure to send in a bagged lunch if you did not order hot lunch. Hot lunch must be pre-ordered for the upcoming month. If you have any questions about a Forgotten Lunch charge, please feel free to e-mail the Hot lunch committee at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Hot Lunch Volunteers -- If you are unable to work your scheduled hot lunch day, please call other volunteers and find a replacement for yourself. Many volunteers who work the same day of the week (but different weeks/teams) as you are willing to switch days. Please do not call the Hot Lunch Coordinators. Our hot lunch program is run completely by volunteers, and we count on each and every volunteer to serve lunch to our children.

Lil’ Sibs Playgroup – The first meeting of our new Lil’ Sibs Playgroup will be held next Wednesday, November 3rd, at 9:00 in the Pennell Center (the building at the far end of the upper parish parking lot). This is a great chance for parents with younger children to get together and talk and let the kids play and get to know each other. Katie Graybill is coordinating this group and can be contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Junior Great Books – Grades 2 thru 6 – It’s time to sign up for Junior Great Books!  Students meet once a week for 10-12 weeks to discuss classic stories and folktales.  Day of the week will be determined based on students’ schedules.  Meetings are held from 8 to 8:30 AM.  If you have any questions, please contact Lorrice Bedard at 881-8635.

Auction Committee Meeting – The Auction Committee will meet on Friday, November 5 at 8:00 a.m. in the Church Hall. Many hands make light work and this is a BIG event, so we need many hands! Please consider joining us and seeing how fun this event is to put together! Questions about the Auction and/or the meeting can be sent to Chair Paula MacLellan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Nashua Catholic Open House – Nashua Catholic Junior High School will hold its first Open House of the year on Wednesday, November 10, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to visit the school, meet the staff and faculty, and take a tour.

Nashua Catholic Wrestling Program – Nashua Catholic will have a wrestling clinic on Saturday, November 6th, 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. at NC.  This clinic is open to children in grades 5-8 who are interested in participating on the Nashua Catholic team (because they are a middle school team, 5th and 6th grade students from St. Chris and IJ are allowed to participate).  We welcome all 'new comers', experienced is not required.  We put kids in situations where they can learn the sport and be as successful as they want to be.  There are no weight requirements -- we don't ask kids to cut weight!!

Popcorn Has Begun! – In case you missed it, we have begun our Friday popcorn days! Students will have the opportunity to purchase a bag of freshly-popped popcorn for their snack for just 50¢. Our thanks to all those who volunteered to help Stephen and Christine Danielson with this popular program!
