VOLUNTEERS – We are very grateful to the many volunteers who give hours of their time to the school.  All volunteers who have ongoing contact with students at any time will be required to fill out a Diocese of Manchester Volunteer Application, undergo a State Criminal Records Check, a National Sex Offender Registry check, complete the Acknowledgement Form of the Diocese of Manchester Serving Christ, Serving Others Code of Ministerial Conduct (the “Code”) and the Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal Policy for the Protecting of Children and Young People (the “Policy”) and attend a Protecting God’s Childrenworkshop, and at least every three (3) years, participate in refresher training on sexual abuse awareness and reporting.  This includes those volunteering for extracurricular activities (i.e. Chess, Great Books, etc.).  All requirements must be completed and passed in to the office no later than October 9, 2009.  We will be holding a Protecting God’s Children Workshop at St. Christopher School on Tuesday, September 22nd, 7 top 9 PM. We urge all volunteers who have not already attended the workshop to please make an effort to attend on the 22nd.

For those who attended the PGC workshop more than 3 years ago, a Refresher Brochure will be available on Information Night.

Volunteer Sign-up’s – We love our volunteers! Sign-up’s for many of our volunteer opportunities will be available on Sunday, following the 10:00 a.m. Back to School/Back to Church event at St. Christopher Church (in the Church Hall) and Monday night at the Parent Information Night (in the hallway by the main office). Volunteering is a great way to get to know other parents and the children in your students’ classes. Please join us!

INFORMATION NIGHT – CLASSROOM ORIENTATION – On Monday, September 14th, from 6:45 to 8:30 PM we will be having our Information Night.  All parents are encouraged to attend and find out more about our school and the many programs it offers.  The program begins in the church and then will continue over to the school. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet their children’s teachers, meet other parents and see what the school year ahead will be like. P.S. Be sure to write a note to your child and hide it in his or her desk…they love that!

STUDENT / PARENT HANDBOOK –.  Please read the handbook and return the Signature Page, page number 25, to school no later than Wednesday, September 9th.

The Emergency Information Record card, St. Christopher School Publicity Release Form, and Physical Education Permission Slip must be returned to school as soon as possible.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION – WOW – The Box Tops bin is already filling up.  Thank you for saving them over the summer.  All those dimes add up to dollars for our school.  You may have noticed that the Box Tops collection bin is new, and now it has a new location.  Look for it on the first floor in the main lobby across from the staircase, next to the Labels for Education collection bin, which is also new.  Thanks again.

HOT LUNCH NEWS…..

Online Lunch Ordering Begins!

The order period for online lunch ordering has begun and the menu will be open for hot lunch ordering until 9/15.  After 9/15 you will not be able to order lunch for October and the online menu will become view only.  No late orders can be accepted.  So far over 120 students and staff have registered and 42 families have already placed their lunch orders!  Here what one mom said, “It was very easy to use. I did my ordering with ease. I loved it! Glad we went with this option. I hope people enjoy this method. I do like the calendar, already have it on the refrigerator!” Please continue to direct questions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Also, please make sure your check payment for hot lunch is received at the school by 9/20 in order for your account to be properly credited. Checks should be returned in the purple envelope.  Please return the purple envelope even if you are not ordering hot lunch so that the envelopes can be reused for the following month. Thanks!!!!!

Hot Lunch Volunteers! - Please make sure you return your hot lunch volunteer form if you are interested in volunteering to serve hot lunch once a month.  All volunteers are required to meet the requirements set forth by the Diocese of Manchester including attending a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.  If you have not yet attended one of these workshops the next session is being held on Tuesday, September 22, 7pm – 9pm in the church hall.  Contact the school office to register.

Back Parking Lot – For the safety of the children, those parents who pick up their children in the back parking lot are asked to please back into the spaces along the outside of the lot. In doing that, we prevent any car from backing over a child after the students are dismissed. Thank you for your help in keeping our kids safe!

Thank you’s– Fred Daniels would like to thank Joe Mercurio, Jonathan Mercurio ’09, and Joe Laplante for their assistance in repainting the lines for the games on the back parking lot.

Community Potluck Reminder – Don’t forget about our first annual Community Potluck on Friday, Sept. 25 in the back parking lot! We’ll provide the drinks, you provide your favorite dish, and we’ll all have a great time! We’ll see you at 5:30 pm!

Snow Plowing Proposal – Bookkeeper Deb Carney is now accepting proposals for snow plowing this winter. If you are interested in bidding, please contact Deb at the school. Proposals will be due by October 30.

Parents Group – Our popular Parents Group will have their first meeting of the year on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Hall. Please join us to plan our year, including fundraisers and enrichment programs. This is an especially great way for working parents to get involved in volunteering in the school!

Back to School/Back to Church – Join us for our first joint school/parish mass of the year, this Sunday, Sept. 13 at 10:00 a.m. All students who attend the mass in uniform will receive a dress down day Friday, Sept. 25! Following the mass, join us downstairs for coffee and donuts and view the many opportunities available to get involved both in the school and at the parish.

Opening Mass – Our first mass of the year will be held on this Friday, Sept. 11 at 9:15 a.m. 6W will be preparing the mass. Parents, grandparents, friends and family of all of our students are encouraged to attend and join us in praying for our students, our school, and our world.

Corpus Christi Food Pantry – One of our ongoing service projects here at the school and at the parish is the support of the Corpus Christi Food Pantry. Each week, we will list an item in need at the Food Pantry. Donations are not required, but if you desire to participate, they can be brought to school and placed in the basket in the lobby marked “Corpus Christi” and we will transport it to the Food Pantry. This week’s need is pasta and plastic shopping bags. Thank you!

Shiny Floors – Thanks to herculean efforts this summer by Bob Hebert and Nicholas Richards, our school’s floors are shiny as can be! Please help us keep them that way by talking to your children about “scuffing” their feet along the floor which leaves black marks that are difficult to remove. The teachers have addressed this to the students, too, but it never hurts to have a little parent reinforcement! Thanks!
