Chess Tournament – Congratulations to our over 30 participants in the Chess Club tournament! All of the students scored points and the parent coordinators were most impressed with the students’ good sportsmanship! Award certificates will be presented during Chess Club THIS Friday, April 21, and the Club will continue through early May.
THIS WEEK! Lifetouch Spring Photos – All students should have brought home their Lifetouch Spring Portrait package several weeks ago! As a reminder, you are not obligated to purchase these photos. However, if you choose not to purchase the photos, you must return the package to school by THIS Friday, April 21…these are not free to keep. If you choose to purchase the portraits, please make your payment by THIS Friday, April 21 as well! You may have noticed in the Lifetouch materials that if at least 90% of the student portrait packages are either purchased or returned to school, we will receive a complimentary bicycle from Lifetouch. Our plan is to use the bike for a free student raffle sometime in the near future…a great prize for our amazing students!
NEW! LIBRARY NEWS!
BIRTHDAY BOOKS - So far this year we have close to 50 new birthday books! Thank you everyone for helping our library grow. If you missed your child's birthday, have a birthday coming up in May, June or in the summer, and would like your child to choose a birthday book, please let me know. I will be placing the birthday book order on May 15th to allow time for shipping, processing and most importantly to give your child a chance to check out their book.
RETURNING LIBRARY BOOKS - The last week to check out library books (except for book reports and projects) is the week of May 15th. I am in the process of informing the students to try to find their "lost" books. All books (except for book reports and projects) must be returned by May 26th allow time for shelving and processing.
Drop-off Reminder – We know everyone is busy, busy, busy, but please don’t forget those morning drop-off procedures! Our school buses have had difficulty in dropping off our students this week because parents are ignoring our traffic flow and clogging up the street…oh no! If you are a PreK or Kdg parent dropping off in the rear of the school, please come DOWN Brookline St. (Manchester St. to Gordon St. to Brookline St.). After you have dropped off, go STRAIGHT out of the parking lot onto Hill St….do NOT turn right or left back onto Brookline St.
For those parents who are dropping off in the front of the building, please continue straight down Cushing Ave after dropping off. Do NOT turn up Brookline St. as this causes additional congestion by the bus drop off and the PreK/Kdg entrance to the parking lot.
Computer Programming Class – Lego Mindstorms -- The third session of Computer Programming 101 begins Friday, May 5th and runs through June 9th (six weeks), at 7:30 AM. This session focuses on Lego Mindstorms EV3 programming. Students in grades 3 and up that intend to participate in Lego League next fall are strongly encouraged to attend. There is a limit of 10 students, with priority given to Lego League participants. There is a $20 activity fee for this session. To register, go to https://goo.gl/owdQSy to view the Sign-Up Genius. The $20 fee is due immediately upon signing your child up.
NEXT WEEK! April Vacation – Next week, April 24 through April 28 is our April Vacation…yay! Have a great time!

NEW! Spring Parish/School Mass and Coffee Hour – Come give thanks for the long-awaited Spring with your St. Chris friends at our annual Spring Parish/School Mass and Coffee Hour on Sunday, May 21 at 10:00 AM! Families from ALL parishes are invited to attend Mass and enjoy a coffee and donut afterwards. Students who attend Mass in school uniform will receive a Free Dress pass for the next day, May 22.
NEW! Open House for Prospective Students – It’s time for our Spring Open House for Prospective Students! It will take place following the Parish/School Mass and Coffee Hour on May 21, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. If you know of someone who is interested in a St. Chris education for their child, this is a GREAT opportunity for them to stop in and take a look around! Our knowledgeable tour guides will show visitors around the school, and Mrs. Clarke and many teachers will be available to answer any questions. We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2017. Pre-registration is not required for the Open House and it is on a drop-on basis, but parents are welcome to call Jackie Langenfeld for more information at 882-7442, ext. 114.
As always, we encourage our families to share information about the upcoming Open House! A number of external factors, including potential full day Kindergarten in Nashua, area charter schools, and decreased birth rates make upcoming Admissions events like the Open House very, very important for keeping our school full of happy children! Please take a moment to talk with your friends on the ball field, or at dance class, or even at the gym about all the advantages that St. Christopher offers students and their families! Thank you!!
NEW! Used Book Sale – Our Parent Group will be holding its annual Used Book and Uniform Sale on May 11 and 12, so start saving those books and uniforms now! Collection boxes will be available in the school the week after April vacation. Donations of books, cd’s, dvd’s, and uniforms are most welcome! All students will be visiting the Book Sale on May 12 and parents are welcome, too! Books are 50¢ and all uniform pieces are $2.00.
