Visual Arts - Mrs. Fessenden

Becky_FessendenHello! I am so glad to be joining the St. Christopher community!

I have a degree in Art Education from Plymouth State University and have enjoyed working in schools in southern NH, summer camps in the White Mountains and private art studios as well.  I love to be active outdoors, sing and dance, and work with children!

April 2016

weaving2 Fourth Grade enjoyed learning about weaving around the world! Then we created our own using recycled cardboard for our looms and recycled t-shirts as our weaving material, or as a weaver would say, as our "weft."   They created so many beautiful patterns. We even had the chance to weave outside during the good weather!
weaving1 The fourth grade weavings are now on display in the upstairs hallway.  Using sticks from the lovely outdoor area of St. Christopher School, we assembled a unique and natural showcase for our work.

Friday, March 25th is Good Friday, and we will not have school that day.  If any students would like Mrs. Fessenden to drop off their work for them, they must put it against the tall metal cabinets near Mrs. Fessenden's (and Ms. Daigle's) desk under the stairs (near kindergarten and Pre-K) by 3pm on Thursday March 24th. Their work must be labled, ready to hang, and have the signed parent permission slip as well in order for Mrs. Fessenden to submit it for them!

Application and Information sheets can be found in the yellow folders clipped to the side of the art cart!

March 2016

Kindergarten enjoyed an introduction to weaving using “ABAB” patterns.

First graders have the option of choosing graph paper for free draw when they are finished their artwork.  I love the patterns and designs they create with a simple grid to start from!

This second grader did an excellent job weaving! They chose to create a paper loom with zigzags and waves for an extra challenge.

Fifth grade students created ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) to trade with each other, and with me! We had a great time!
