February (febrero)

The children did great with the Spanish Rosary. ¡Buen trabajo muchachos!

Thank you to Mrs. Brown's class for singing the months of the year in English and Spanish. I enjoyed it very much!

We are working on the alphabet in Spanish. Learning songs and games. The game headbandz is a wonderful game to play
during Spanish class. We are translating the words from English to Spanish. This is a game they are going to be able to play at home with their famillies.
The month of febrero is a short one, but full of many fun activities.
The kids can write and say:    I love my mom. I love my dad.  En español.    Amo a mi mamá.    Amo a mi papá.
Hasta pronto,
señora B.

January (enero)

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

Winter (invierno), that is the theme of this month. It is the perfect time to learn everything about snow (nieve), snowman (muñeco de nieve), snow flakes (copos de nieve), and many more. So far the children love playing different styles of Spanish bingo, some with numbers, words, and pictures. I introduced a new game last month, and we will continue to play this month. The game is completely in Spanish. The name of the game is: La palabra es __________. (The word is ________.) So much fun.

More games for an introduction to body parts using sticky notes and Mr. Potato Head.

Also, a new song to learn The Our Father (el Padre Nuestro) in Spanish. (Second grade already aprove it).

The right time for the months of the year (Macarena style), and the days of the weeks.

I am using rockalingua. This is a great program. The kids enjoy the songs and the games. It has some free activities; perfect to practice some Spanish at home.

Catholic Schools Week is also this month. A wonderful week to share the gift and love of Catholic Schools. (Escuelas Católicas).

Hasta pronto,

Señora B.

December (diciembre)

¡Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Próspero Año y Felicidad!

Every child at school is singing this contagious song, and I love it. Starting this week we are learning everything about Navidad, en español.

From la flor de Pascua o flor de  Noche Buena (poinsettia), that come to us from Mexico. Las Posadas, José y María looking for a place

to stay or shelter. A popurrí of canciones en inglés y español, from the traditional songs in English to the traditional ones in Spanish.

My favorite one, The Three Kings (Los Tres Reyes Magos).

We are going to be learning about traditional food and making a menu en español.

Enjoy this wonderful time of the year.

Hasta pronto,

señora B.

¡Feliz Navidad!
