Home Students Classroom Pages Music - Ms. Daigle January 2016

January 2016

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and happy new year! New and exciting things will be happening in music class this year.

The 5th and 6th graders are putting down their ukuleles for the next month or so and will be starting their composer projects. Last year I had the students research a classical composer, but this year they will be researching contemporary composers like Taylor swift and Sam Smith. How exciting! The directions are as follows,

The 3rd and 4th graders will learn “D” this month on the recorder. They now know how to play B, A, G, and C. All students are able to play the songs in the book we’ve practiced in class up until page 11. Students will also be learning the Rondo theme with a fun activity called "Candy Rondo" (that of course involves candy)

1st and 2nd graders will continue practicing rhythm with the drums and begin to learn the notes on the staff with the boomwhackers. They will learn how to play “Twinkle Twinle Little Star” and “London bridge.”

Prek and K will also continue to draw music notes and practice call and response on the drums and boom-whackers. They’ll even color their own boom-whacker sheets to write a song! As well as learn some new fun movement games.
