6W February News

February is a month of celebrations.  Catholic Schools Week fun ended at the beginning of this month.  After opening with a school Mass on January 29th, the celebrations continued with Spirit Day, Beach Day, Pajama Day, and Patriots’ Day.  We enjoyed an ice cream party, a bowling field trip, and popcorn and a movie with our Buddy Class, 1A.

On Thursday, February 8th, the sixth grade finally got to attend Step-Up Day at Nashua Catholic after three cancellations due to bad weather.

The whole school celebrated the beginning of the holy season of Lent by attending Mass together on Ash Wednesday.  The sixth grade will complete a special unit on Lent in religion class this month.  We will attend Stations of the Cross every Friday, also.

This month the fifth and sixth grade Social Studies classes will complete their research projects and present their findings to the class on February 22nd.  Grade Five created a poster with information on the assigned state.  Grade Six wrote and illustrated an alphabet book with facts they had previously found over a period of weeks

Grade Five Social Studies will complete a special unit on Presidents and the White House this month.  Grade Six has finished their study of Canada and will move on to the history and geography of Europe!

This month we will finish the novel My Side of the Mountain.  Students are reading a mystery for the book reports at the end of the month. All book reports are done in class.

Please continue to encourage your students to practice their spelling words at home on spellingcity.com.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe February Vacation!
