6W January News

Happy New Year!  Wishing you all the blessings of good health and good times for 2015.

Thank you so much for the generous and thoughtful Christmas gifts.  Thank you for sending in the delicious treats for our Christmas party, too.

The December fun and wonderful vacation are over, and it is time to return to our regular work schedule.

Grade Five and Grade Six Social Studies classes will begin working on research projects for their state or country.  These projects will be divided into three parts and will be completed at home this month and next.  Directions for each section will be given in class and sent home for a parent’s signature on January 5th, January 13th, and January 27th.  The final project for both grades will be due on February 13th.

This month our literature class will be reading famous classics of children’s literature.  Students will be given several titles to choose from and read at home and at school for the month of January.  Several activities will be completed in school during this time, so the books should be brought to school daily.  Our school library has many titles from this genre.

Please remind the students that the written spelling lesson is due every Thursday.  They can practice the words at home by going to spellingcity.com.  The lists are under Mrs. Emond’s name.

We will return to our study of the Old Testament this month after taking some time off from the textbook to complete several Advent activities.

Please look for more information on the activities planned for Catholic Schools Week.  It will be a wonderful way to end the month!
