March News

Wow!  What an interesting winter we’ve had.  I hope everyone enjoyed the winter break and had a chance to rest up for the long stretch to April vacation.  We have a very full month ahead of us.  We have our annual STEM Day on the 8th. 6E is working on a Recipe Project using fractions.

This month we will be studying lessons 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 in spelling.  Spelling words can be found in the class text and atwww.spellingcity.com.

Religion continues with Lent, Holy Week, and Easter.  Our focus is Jesus’ journey to the cross.  We have a list of Lenten vocabulary words that will be studied during Lent.

In Literature we are finishing My Side of the Mountain.  Students will choose from three essay topics to conclude the lesson.  The genre for March’s book report is classic literature.  The book must be approved by me on or before the 7th.  The book needs to be read by the end of the month, and the book report will be completed in class.

The 6th grade will finish off their fraction and graphing units throughout the month.   Extra help takes place on Wednesdays at 8 AM.  Please focus on sections K, L, GG and II for www.ixl.com/stchris/signin.

The 5th grade will finish the geometry unit this month.  Protractors are needed at home.  They can be bought at the school store or printed off the internet.  They cannot complete their homework without one.  Extra help takes place on Thursdays at 8 AM starting the week of the 5th.  Monday mornings will be devoted to study sessions for the 6th grade.   Please focus on section Z forwww.ixl.com/stchris/signin.
