Home Students Classroom Pages Grade 6 - Mrs. Emond Welcome Back

Welcome Back

Welcome to the 6th Grade!

As summer vacation winds down, we look forward to a new school year.  What an exciting year it is going to be!  I cannot wait to get started.

Parent Information Night is Wednesday, September 13th.  Please stop by your child’s class during Parent Information Night.  There will be a packet of information from your child’s core teachers and the sign-up sheet for conferences.

As a yearly tradition, 6E creates a class mural at the start of every school year.  They will brainstorm ideas, develop a theme, and paint pictures to represent the theme.  It is a must see.  Pictures will be posted upon completion.  Our theme is “Who is Jesus?”

We work on a spelling lesson each week.  The spelling lessons for this month are 1, 2, 3 and 4.  On Mondays we will complete the list words three times each in cursive.  On Tuesdays we will complete the three pages of book work.  Each Wednesday students complete an activity that changes weekly.  All work is due on Thursdays.  Fridays are the test day.  Tests are completed on the iPads.  Please use www.spellingcity.com for studying.

In Literature our focus is on The Fighting Ground.  We are completing small group activities on the book.  Our first activity is a book summary in a poem.  Your students are all Super Heroes.  Their first writing activity will be to write about a time they were someone’s hero.

In 6th grade Math we are studying place value, expanded form, addition and subtraction.  The IXL topics are A, F, and G.  Wednesday at 8 AM is 6th grade extra help.

5th grade Math has the same topics as 6th grade Math.  The IXL focus is A, B, G, and H.  Monday at 8 AM is 5th grade extra help.

We are ready for a great year!

Smile Mrs. Emond
