March was a wonderful and busy month with our STEM Fair, Terra Nova Testing, and preparation for Easter. The students have been working hard and I am so proud of them. I am looking forward to another great month ahead of us! Here is a look at what is happening this month:
English- The 5th and 6th grade students will be learning about adverbs this month. They will be focusing on adverbs of time, place, and manner, as well as adverbs that compare. As we move along in the school year, the students will continue to incorporate the parts of speech that they have learned into their writing. This month the 5th grade students will continue to work on their Creative Writing piece. They are creating tall tales with their own modern "larger-than-life" heroes. The 6th grade students will work on their Expository writing piece. They will be writing these in the form of a Newspaper article to inform readers about all of the wonderful things that are happening at St. Chris! We will also continue to learn new Vocabulary words using our Vocabulary Workshop workbooks.
Spelling- For spelling this month we will be covering Lessons 23, 24, and 25. Please continue to use Spellingcity.com to review spelling words and prepare for weekly Spelling tests!
Reading- Our theme for our April Book Report is Humor. The students received the final copy paper and rubric. This will be due on April 19, 2017. Since April is Poetry month we will also be studying Poetry and writing our own poems. We will have our Poetry Slam on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 1:45 in the Church Hall. It will be a wonderful celebration of our students' hard work!
Religion- This month we will be learning about the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, the Triduum, and Easter.
I hope everyone has a wonderful April and Easter season!
