I have taught 3rd grade for over 10 years.  My son Jake is a graduate of St. Christopher School! My hobbies include reading, traveling, going to the beach in the summer, and spending time with my family.

May News

Can you believe it's already May?!  I hope you all had a fantastic April vacation.  We are in the home stretch now, and there is still lots to do and much to review before 4th Grade!  Don't forget our field trip on Wednesday May 11th!

Religion:  The third grade is preparing the Ascension Mass this month, so please join us if you can.  We will also be celebrating Mary this month with our May Crowning.

Math: We will be moving into double digit multiplication and long division after geometry.  Please remember to keep reviewing the basic facts--www.multiplication.com is a great website with fun games to reinforce the facts.

Social Studies: We will soon be finishing our chapter on explorers and moving into inventions.  The students love learning about what life was like before all of the newest technology.  It is a fun chapter to discuss how and why things developed over the years.  Who knows what the future holds?

Language Arts: We are learning about suffixes, adverbs, author's purpose, conjunctions, and context clues. Information for the final book report has been sent home.

I will be handing out the last Scholastic Book Orders next week.   I want to make sure the orders are in before June and the kiddos get any books they want for summer reading.  Ordering online is ready to go, and of course you can do the paper form as well. There are some great "end of the year" deals throughout.

April News

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

Hopefully we will have some warmer weather soon and start seeing the beautiful colors of Spring!  It's hard to believe we only have a few months left.

Math:  We have moved on to measurement and time and temperature.  We will be continuing with multiplication with 2, 3, and 4 digit numbers with and without regrouping.  Please continue to review the basic facts and go to IXL.com and multiplication.com for further practice.  The 3rd graders seem to really enjoy this topic and are doing quite well with comparing different units of measure.

Language Arts:  Adjectives and adverbs are the focus this month.  We continue to review the parts of speech, while we move on.  We have been picking apart sentences and identifying each word and how it's used in the sentence.  A reminder that the book report is due April 19th.

Social Studies:  We are in the midst of comparing towns in Colorado, Washington, and Indianapolis and their history. We will be continuing with our explorers.  There are a lot of explorers from many countries!  We are taking our time with this chapter because there is so much to remember.  Map skills will be enhanced this month.

Religion:  We are learning about Christianity across the world and looking at how other cultures celebrate.  We will also be discussing the Sacraments and their meanings.  What makes them special in our faith?  Why should we receive them?  A reminder that 3G is preparing the Ascension Thursday Mass in May!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
