I am excited for the upcoming year as part the St. Christopher School family. I was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire. I graduated from Keene State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and English.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. In my spare time I like to cook, shop, and make crafts.

September

We have had a wonderful start to this school year! Our class has been very busy learning the rules, following a new schedule, bonding with classmates and exploring seven new textbooks! I can tell that we are going to have a great year together!

Our specialist schedule is as follows:

Monday- Physical Education

Tuesday- Computer / Library & Music

Wednesday- Library / Computer

Thursday- Spanish

Friday- Art

In Math we have been reviewing skills from second grade including expanded form, money less than $1.00, addition/subtraction facts through 18, fractions, measurements, time and graphs. Next we will move on to comparing and ordering numbers. We will also be working on adding and subtracting larger numbers.

In Science we are learning about plants and how they grow. We are exploring the main parts of a plant, why plants need roots and stems, how plants are grouped, how new plants grow, and how plants of the past are like today’s plants.

In Language Arts we are using a new reading series which includes reading, comprehension, phonics, grammar, handwriting and spelling.  Today we learned about homonyms, short vowels, rhythm and conflict.

Here is the link to our class webpage on SpellingCity.com. Here you will find our list of spelling words and many fun games that you can play to practice for our weekly spelling test!

In Religion we are learning the teachings of Jesus through readings, class plays, art projects and more.

Our class visits Mrs. Goltsov’s class four days a week for Social Studies!

This Friday (9/7) we will have our first spelling test of the year. We will also be answering writing prompts on the summer reading book Ramona the Pest.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have!

Third Grade Goals:

Our third grade class will have fun developing reading and language arts skills through weekly spelling exercises and grammar lessons. Students will learn all about the writing process, and practice some creative writing.  We will read many stories to improve upon comprehension skills.

In math, students will become experts at the multiplication tables 1-12! Students will learn about place value and money, division, geometry, fractions, and problem solving.

In science, our class will be doing hands-on activities and experiments to learn about life cycles, matter, forces and machines, weather, landforms, the human body, rocks and minerals, and the solar system!

In social studies, students will learn about communities, geography, economics, citizenship, and government. Students will also learn about American culture and our nation’s history.

I am looking forward to a great year in third grade!
