Merry Christmas

Loving God, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,

that we may share in the song of the angels,

the gladness of the shepherds,

and worship of the wise men.

Thanksgiving and Christmas two of my MOST favorite times of the year!  I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good food, family, friends, and REST!  Now that the Christmas season is upon us, I am so excited for all the things we will do, and learn.

In RELIGION we will focus on Advent, a time of preparing for Jesus' birth, and Christmas, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We will attend church as a school for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on  Friday, December 8.  Then we will read, and talk about the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit helps Jesus' followers, Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit came to Jesus' followers and that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity.

In MATH we will continue to work on our Fact Families, basic math facts addition and subtraction.  We will review tally marks in charts, I will introduce graphs, identify sets of tens, count by ten, write number words 11-100, estimate, and place value of digits, finally  we will start Math Olympics this month.

In Phonics we will continue to read and write High Frequency Words, match medial sounds, discriminate between words that do and do not have a long vowel sound, write and read words with a long vowel sounds.

In READING/ENGLISH we will learn about initial consonant blends, interrogative sentences, plot of a story, identifying main idea and details of a story, cause and effect, High Frequency Words, reading with fluency and accuracy, final blends, exclamatory sentences, sequence of a story, digraphs, and review common nouns and writing a friendly letter.
