It will be a busy month in 1A.  We will spend lots of time learning about the rosary, praying a decade of the rosary each week, and learning about Mary the Mother of God.  Our class will be going on our first field trip with our 6th Grade Buddies and we will have a Halloween Party on Tuesday, October 31!

 

In RELIGION as a clas we will learn that God chose Mary to be the Mother of his Son, the story of Jesus' birth, Jesus lived in Nazareth with Mary and Joseph (the Holy Family) John the Baptist,

In MATH our focus will be on word problems, reviewing the + plus , = equal, and - minus signs, adding sums, related addition facts, addition patterns,doubles through 12, doubles + 1, addition strategies,  adding 3 addends,

In PHONICS we will continue to sing our Vowel, and Vowel Bat songs, review rhyming,  introduce short a, i, and o, read short a, i, and o  words in context, and write short a, i, and o words.

Language Arts and Handwriting, -We will read and write High Frequency Words, work on our comprehension skills, using the 5 fingure Retell Hand, simple sentences, verbs and adjectives, sort nouns and verbs,  We are slowly getting familiar to the Daily 5, we are working on building our stamina, learning to read to self for 5  minutes. In HANDWRITING we will practice our letter formation for the following letters, J,W, D, K, R, L, H.

Social Studies and Science-This month we will learn about Christopher Columbus, different kinds of leaves, bats, and pumpkins
